Cardiac Surgeon Santa Rosa

Coronary Artery Bypass Surgery

Traditional, contemporary, and innovative techniques are utilized to provide the best range of options and most effective therapies for treatment of ischemic heart disease.

Off-Pump Coronary Artery Bypass (OPCAB)

Off pump, or beating heart surgery, is suitable for most patients. It provides the full surgical benefit of coronary artery bypass surgery with avoidance of exposure to the heart–lung machine. Off pump surgery can reduce the risk of complications such as stroke, and reduces the risk of exposure to transfusion. Patients feel better sooner and recover faster after OPCAB.

Video Assisted Endoscopic Saphenous Vein Harvesting

Endoscopic vein harvesting eliminates the unsightliness and pain of the traditional leg incision for vein harvesting. Virtually eliminates the leg incision as a barrier to rapid recovery.

Revascularization with Multiple Arterial Grafts

The use of more than one arterial graft may be a more durable treatment option for younger patients. The revascularization strategy and conduit choice are individualized for each patient.

Valve Repair and Replacement Surgery

We utilize the latest repair and replacement technologies to create effective, durable outcomes.

Valve Annuloplasty and Repair

The mitral and tricuspid valves can often be repaired, rather than replaced. Intraoperative tranesophageal echocardiography (TEE) permits visualization and immediate assessment of the repairs. The repair devices and strategies are individualized for each patient.

Valve Replacement

The newest generations of tissue and mechanical valves utilized for implantation. Mechanical valves are available when durability is paramount, and tissue valves can be utilized when anticoagulation is an issue.

Treatment of Adult Congenital Heart Disease

This includes surgical repair of common structural heart defects in adults, such as atrial septal defects, symptomatic PFOs, ventricular septal defects and others.

Resection of Cardiac Masses and Tumors

We perform evaluation and, if indicated, surgical resection of intracardiac tumors, thrombus, masses, resection of cavoatrial extension of renal cell carcinoma, and others.

Surgery for Treatment of Atrial Fibrillation

Surgical atrial ablation (‘Mini-MAZE’) and Hybrid MAZE procedures with left atrial appendage ligation can provide a surgical cure for atrial fibrillation. This may be done in conjunction with an open operation for correction of other structural heart disease (such as CABG or valve surgery), or done in via a minimally invasive video assisted ( VATS MAZE) as a stand-alone procedure.

Surgical Ventricular Restoration

Surgical ventricular restoration (SVR) is the repair of anteroapical aneurysms using a calibrated surgical method to reduce the volume of the ventricular cavity while restoring the important geometric relationships. SVR usually results in an increased ejection fraction, improved functional class, and improved survival for properly selected patients.

Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement (TAVR)

TAVR is a less invasive procedure that is designed to replace a diseased aortic valve and get you back on your feet faster. Any severe aortic stenosis patients who are experiencing symptoms should be considered for TAVR. The procedure is also an option for people at high risk for surgery who had their aortic valve replaced in the past, but need a new one because the replacement may no longer work well.
